Suspected dog poisoning at Toronto dog park

I think people that purposely hurt dogs, or any animal for that matter, are evil and should be punished. People that abuse their own pets are very high on my list of people that can go straight to Hell. But to purposely kill other people’s animals? Well, these losers are in a whole subcategory of evil.

Unfortunately, it looks like this is what has happened in Toronto yesterday, as one dog died and four others are sick, with one barely holding on. All of the pooches had been at an off-leash area in High Park. And all of the dogs seemed to have taken drinks from buckets of water provided at the park.

Upon examination by a vet, high levels of ethylene glycol, better known as anti freeze were found in the dog’s systems. The sweet taste of anti freeze makes it irresistible to dogs. According to Dr. Scott Bainbridge of the Queen West Animal Hospital an animal would be showing signs of the poisoning within three hours of ingesting it and should be taken to a vet as soon as possible.

I honestly don’t understand how someone could do this. I think you would have to be pretty sick and twisted to enjoy poisoning animals. And if they catch the person, which is highly unlikely, the penalty will be the equivalent to a slap on the wrist.

Animal cruelty laws need to be stiffer. As an animal lover who takes in injured animals, I think the laws need to be pretty much on par with laws for murder and abuse of a human. While I am not equating the death of a dog with the death of a human, for me, a life is a life and anyone that cruelly and inhumanely takes the life of another living thing should be punished accordingly.

Cruelty to animals cannot be tolerated in the modern times. Animals from part of our eco system in many way...otherwse also giving oneself to baser instincts similar to the subhumans should be denounced.

I am a huge animal lover with a house full of animals. I just don’t understand how people can be so cruel.. Of course I also don’t understand how some people can think of certain animals and birds as pest. Where I live it is illegal to own a crow as a pet, but not illegal to kill them. Makes no sense at all.
